Re: 100 years of the BBC
Although it's lost its way it still makes great documentaries.
Where it's gone wrong is it's trying to compete with the other channels far too many quizes and reality programmes.
Agree about Lineker as he only introduces MOTD and at the moment there's more Premier league games on Sundays which he doesn't cover.

Re: 100 years of the BBC
The BBC, in a way, have limited advertising already.

They advertise their own shows both on the TV, and now on the iPlayer before whatever you're watching starts.

Re: 100 years of the BBC
Sven, there's no realistic option for limited advertising. It's either all or nowt.

Re: 100 years of the BBC
I might put on POINTLESS when I get home from work, while I potter around. I think that's pretty much the only thing I watch on TV of theirs.

I can make do with THE CHASE if they get rid of it.

By the way, Government contribution would be TAX PAYERS contribution. Just to be clear.

Yeah, can be good. Footy on radio in the car. An occasional series.
All of that can be supplied by other companies cheaper.

"What would you miss if it went?"

Good question. I can't think of anything. Possibly the cricket on the radio?

Re: 100 years of the BBC
They make some good shows. But the general output is dross. A corporation sinking with the weight of over-paid middle class, virtue signalling and woke exec types. Just like Sky Sports its now main objective is to prove this country is a racist, far right and bigoted hell hole..... Whilst also showing the Antiques Roadshow which, behind the scenes, will disgust many of their top execs as it gives a platform for all the Little Englanders.

Re: 100 years of the BBC
30 of the first 70 were OK.

Ever since then it's been dining out on the reputation it gained during those years, and has chosen to not notice that the portions it serves are getting smaller and less nutritious.
